Bliss activities in Sweden 2000 – 2002

25^th Anniversary 2001

In 2001 we celebrated that blissymbolics had been used in Sweden for 25 years. About 150 blissymbol users and 500 other persons participated in different “birthday parties” in different parts of Sweden.

Blissymbol users

Many small children start with blissymbols around the country.

In the spring 2002  there has been a course once a week for eight weeks. 14 adult blissymbol users participated. They will continue in the fall 2002.

A workshop is held every fall for one week at Furuboda Folk High School for adult blissymbolusers from the whole country.

One blissymbol user is studiing at the university in Malmö – the first blissymbol user at the university in Sweden!

We give workshops: 3 – 4 elementary workshops (3days) a year    .

                                 several adapted workshops (2 days) a year.

Material

The standard display has been revised with increased number of symbols.

Some childrens books have been translated to blissymbols.

The Bliss Bulletin is published twice a year.

Projects

Bliss post – a project on making it possible for blissymbol users to use e-mail with blissymbols is nearly finished.

A project to make material for adult bliss users has just started and will deal mostly with translating and adapting books and educational material into blissymbols.
