Dr. Bracket went to his office and sat down to write

"Hello. can I help you? "
"No , I' m just phoning about the lost baby girl" .
"Oh yes" .
"I'm the head nurse of the nursery at the East General Hospital and that baby was born here on January sixth 1965" . "She's three now" . "She didn't have a family since she was born but they gave her the name Kari " . "W e couldn' t keep her here any longer" .
"So you put her by the Smoke Shop in Toronto? "
"Right " .
"Okay how did you spell her name? "
"K" "a" "r" "i".
"Thanks for calling".
He put down all the things about Kari and went to show Dixie.
"I just got a call about that cutie" .
"Oh did you? "
"Yup, her name is Kari" .
"Oh that's a pretty name" .
"And she hasn't any family at all". "She's three years old". "I'll put this paper on my desk so Joe can see it tomorrow and get my jacket and we'll go home".
"Okay" .
They both got their coats and walked to Dr. Bracket's car. He drove Dixie home.
"1'11 drive myself tomorrow".

He went home for the night.
The next morning when Dixie drove to the hospital she hung up her coat and went in the elevator to the fourth floor and in Kari's room.
"Hi there" . "Did you have a nice sleep? "

"Yes? " "That' s good" . "I know your name, yes I do" . "It's Kari " .

"Yes it is" . "Are you hungry Kari, are ya? "
"M-m-m-w-w-w-t-t-t " . "Yes?? " "Oka~yy but first wle' II put your ~jumpsuit ".
Dixie put down the side of the crib and sat Kari up.
"Up a dazy" . "I will just untie the string at the back . "There, down you go " . "Out goes one arm and out goes the other arm" .
Dixie checked her diaper to see if it was wet.
"You're not Wet". "That's a good girl. yes you are".
"Here's your pretty red ,iumpsuit " . "Here we go, we're done " . Kari started to cry.
"Are you really hungry?" "Yes?" "Okay it's coming. yes it's coming" .
Right then Dr. Early and Dr. Bracket came in the room.
"Hi Dixie I just heard the news from Kelly" .
"Did you? "
"Hey W ha t ' s wrong with Kari ? "
Dr. Earlv sat down on the side of the crib and picked her up and sat her on his lap and Dr. Bracket stood in front of him.
"It's okay honey, yes it's okay".
"Here. s your breakfast Kari " .
"Okay Joe I'll take her while you hold this" .
"Well I'm going now, see you later sweet heart" .
"I.m staying here and help Dixie to feed Kari" .
"Okay.Joe" . "Oh yah Dixie check her temperature after
you're done will you?"
"Sure Kelly" .
"Bye Kelly".
After Dr. Bracket had gone Dixie fed Kari.
"There you go " .
"I heard that she's hard to feed Dixie" .
"Yes she is" .
"M-m-m-w-w-w-t-t-t" .
"Ready for more honey? " "Oh look at the smile" . "Open up wide" .
"P-P-P".
"That's a new sound hey? "
"Can I try to feed her Dixie? "
"Sure, take her" .
