My wheelchair plans
To do something awful.
I can hear it saying,
“I’m going to make Kari and her Dad miserable.”
I Wonder
I wonder about walking.
What it would feel like
To walk alone
With nobody walking behind me,
Without anyone hugging me
Around my middle?
To me it would feel so strange,
I’ve never walked without any help!
It's Impossible to Move
Sometimes it’s impossible to move,
This body of mine.
First my feet stick right out
Not making it easy to go through doors.
Take the Time
Take the time to look at me.
Take the time to wonder.
Take the time to know me.
Take the time to talk.
Take the time to ask some questions.
Take the time for answers.
Take the time to understand.
Take the time to be a friend.
Look At Me
When some people look at me,
They see a girl in a wheelchair.
I can tell what they are saying.
They’re saying, “That girl can’t walk”.
